Scams Support

If you have the internet, a telephone, and/or a mobile phone, you will have most likely encountered a fraudulent attempt to obtain your money or personal information. With personal information, they could gain access to your email, bank, or other accounts. Or they can sell your information to other scammers.

Sometimes those scams will represent themselves as DirectLink or other legitimate institution with false logos, email accounts, websites, and other tactics. In this support section we aim to help you identify these scams and avoid them.

Email Scams

Email is currently the most common form these scams will use. They will very often disguise themselves as a familiar brand or service that you may have used before. The goal for these scams is to get you to click on a malicious software link, collect sensitive information, or just outright try to have you give them money. Click here for more on email scams.

Telephone/Voice Scams

Scams that will call you on your cellphone or home phone are also very common. They will present themselves as a prize, a government agency, or other institution looking to trick you into giving them your sensitive information or money. They will often be high-pressure situations, trying to get you to act now without time to think. We will go indepth on telephone/voice scams here.

Mobile/Text Scams

There are also a subset of scams that have used your mobile phone as an opportunity to attack. Similarly to telephone/voice scams, these use your phone number to send malicious or fraudulent text messages.
